About Lucas

Hello! My name is Lucas. I'm an Italian Brazilian cellist living in Denton, TX.

I started playing guitar when I was 9 years old. After hearing Mark Knopfler playing Monet for Nothing, and I decided that I would be a musician for the rest of my life.

I switched to cello at the age of 15. Since then, I've played as a solosit, chamber musician and section member in many different emsembles in Brazil, Italy and the United States.

After completing my Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance in 2020, where I co-founded the Fratres Cello Emsemble and the Experimental Repertoire Worskhop at the prestigious University of Sao Paulo.

In 2022, I moved to the United States and started another great musical adventure, studying with Dennis Parker in Louisiana for one year with a full scholarship at Nicholls State University.

Between 2023 and 2025 I completed my Master's degree in cello performance with Dr. Ovidiu Marinescu, winning multiple scholarships such as Alan Fallick award for two years in a row and the Tom Smith Cello Scholarship for accomplished cellists, being principal cellist at the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra for two years and playing with the Rosedale Quartet.

Right now, I'm currently pursuing a Doctor in Musical Arts degree at University of North Texas.

As any good Brazilian, I like soccer, sunlight and music.

Who can we learn from?

Let's play a game. If I asked you to list me 5 great thinkers and 5 great musicians. What names come to mind?

Socrates? Shakespeare? Goethe? Rostropovich? Casals?

Ok, Ok. I basically gave you an answer, but it makes sense at some point.

All these people had one thing in common: They had a rich and profound knowledge of the world around them. They had, what scholar call: A rich imagery.

What is Imagery? It is a collection of experiences we gain from high culture exploring. Reading great books, watching great films, listening to great music. All these elements are vital for the arts.
